3 Dec 2010, 0100 hrs IST,

Major bottlenecks for two projects, which will connect National Highway-58 with NH24 and NH-24 to Greater Noida, have been cleared and work is expected to commence soon.
The projects, planned under the Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small & Medium Towns (UIDSSMT), were pending for over four years.
“The tender invitation process has been initiated for the NH-58 to NH-24 link and land acquisition for NH-24 to Greater Noida link is in the final stages. Construction is expected to begin within few months,” said Anil Garg, chief engineer at Ghaziabad Development Authority. The link roads will benefit NH-58 commuters who wish to directly reach Noida and Delhi via NH 24. On the other hand, the NH 24 to Greater Noida link will bring the satellite city closer by 10 km for the highway users. It will largely benefit residents of Ghaziabad and Greater Noida.
The 3.58-km NH-58 to NH24 link is expected to involve an investment of R138.15 crore. It will be an elevated six-lane stretch passing through Pratap Vihar and terminating at Vijay Nagar Crossing on NH-24.
According to officials, the estimated completion time is two years. For the 14-km NH-24 to Greater Noida link, work on 12 km has already been completed. The road will connect Vijay Nagar checkpost to New Holland factory in Greater Noida.

Delhi- Noida Road Connectivity to Widen

The connectivity between Delhi and Noida will get better in a month’s time. After a survey on vehicular pressure, the work has started to expand three points at Sector 8, Jhundpura and Kondli in Noida to facilitate smooth and greater vehicular flow. The three narrow points — connecting Noida to

East Delhi — have a daily pressure of 70,000 vehicles. Their expansion will ease traffic snarls on the four existing full-fledged links — NH-24, Mayur Vihar, Kalindi Kunj and DND Flyway.

Despite the Metro service, connectivity between the two cities has been a problem. The Sector 8 point is burdened by vehicular pressure from Vasundhara Enclave and Mayur Vihar (both in Delhi). Jhundpura receives traffic from Delhi via Ghazipur. Vehicles coming from Mayur Vihar Phase-III also enter Noida via Kondli. The last two points lead to Sector 11 in Noida, causing traffic snarls during peak hours.

Currently, DND Flyway takes Noida traffic to Ring Road in minutes and has a daily pressure of 2.5 lakh vehicles. Kalindi Kunj bridge connects Noida and Ghaziabad to Delhi and Faridabad with a daily pressure of 1.25 lakh vehicles.

Elevated Road from DND to Noida City Centre (Sec 32)

NOIDA: Three new elevated roads and four new underpasses will be constructed to decongest Noida, particularly in areas around the Sector 18 Market. To add to the glitz of the suburb, the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA) has also decided to build a 42-story office for itself, complete with a helipad. These decisions were taken at the 170th board meeting of NOIDA on Tuesday evening.

In a major development, an elevated road will be built all the way from the Delhi-Noida- Delhi (DND) Flyway to the Metro Station at the City Centre in Sector 32. According to NOIDA chairman, Mohinder Singh, the formalities regarding the elevated roads and the underpasses will be completed in about four months, and the construction will start immediately. Singh said: “Noida commuters will now enjoy the same traffic facilities as offered in the capital. The new facilities will be built as per the traffic plan worked out by RITES in 2004-05, on the basis of an intensive survey. In view of this, three new underpasses will be constructed on the main Master Plan Road.”A consultant will be appointed to study and carry out the construction of the new elevated roads and underpasses.
